Horseback Riding Trails - Oklahoma

Southeast Oklahoma



Arrowhead State Park:   (25.00 trail miles)   (Canadian, Oklahoma) - View on Google Maps. This beautiful 2200 acre state park is located on a peninsula of Lake Eufaula, which is one of the largest manmade lakes in the southwest. Arrowhead State Park features 100 tent sites and 91 total RV sites. There are 40 full hookup sites available. The park also offers picnic shelters, a marina, playgrounds, trails, miniature golf course, swimming area, mountain biking, equestrian campground, stables, and 25 miles of equestrian trails. Arrowhead Golf Course is an 18-hole course with putting green, driving range, and pro shop. Group camps with a kitchen and bunkhouses are available and can sleep up to 144 people. Lake Murray State Park:   (Ardmore, Oklahoma) - View on Google Maps. Oklahoma's oldest and largest state park, located on the shores of beautiful Lake Murray. Fishing, boating and all water sports are found at Lake Murray. Lake Murray Lodge offers guest rooms and suites, cabins, meeting space, The Apple Bin restaurant, and the Parlor. Other activities include golfing, picnics, camping, horseback riding, hayrides, hiking, biking, rollerblading, swimming, miniature golf and paddle boating. Sports facilities include an 18-hole golf course with a pro shop, tennis courts, softball fields, baseball diamond, horseshoe pits, badminton and volleyball nets. Wonderful ATV area for 3/4 wheelers, motorcycles and dirt bikes. Other facilities found in the park include an airstrip, bait and tackle shop, marina with rentals, swimming pool with a changing house, swimming beach, riding stable, remote control air field for hobbyists, miniature golf course and Frisbee golf. Robbers Cave State Park:   (Wilburton, Oklahoma) - View on Google Maps. Robbers Cave State Park is located in the scenic, hilly woodlands of the San Bois Mountains of southeast Oklahoma. A favorite of rappellers, cave explorers, equestrians, hikers and outdoor lovers, Robbers Cave enjoys notoriety as a former hideout for outlaws. The park and adjoining wildlife management area offers acres of discovery and enjoyment including caves, trout fishing in season, boating, hunting, trails for hikers and horses, sandstone cliffs for climbing and rappelling, and fall foliage viewing. McGee Creek State Park:   (Atoka, Oklahoma) - View on Google Maps. Located in southeast Oklahoma, McGee Creek State Park occupies the southwest edge of the Ouachita Mountain Range. McGee Creek State Park offers recreational opportunities including water activities, camping, hiking and fishing, as well as hunting in the adjacent wildlife management area. This 2,600-acre park is the perfect place to stay while fishing in one of Oklahoma's finest trophy lakes, the 3,350-acre McGee Creek Reservoir. Beavers Bend & Hochatown State Park:   (Broken Bow, Oklahoma) - View on Google Maps. Beavers Bend State Park is located in the mountainous region of southeast Oklahoma along the shores of Broken Bow Lake and the Mountain Fork River. Guests traveling down the winding roads through the forests of pine and hardwood trees will find adventure, beautiful scenery and plenty of activities inside this state park. Lake Thunderbird State Park:   (Norman, Oklahoma) - View on Google Maps. Horseback riding, boarding and hay rides are available at Thunderbird Riding Stables. An array of hiking, mountain biking and nature trails are also available in Lake Thunderbird State Park. Accommodations include over 200 RV sites with 30 full hookup sites, restroom facilities and primitive campsites. Northeast Oklahoma



Sequoyah State Park :   (Hulbert, Oklahoma) - View on Google Maps. Sequoyah State Park, located in eastern Oklahoma on the shores of Fort Gibson Lake, is a haven for water lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. With over 19,000 surface acres of water and 225 miles of shoreline, the park attracts boaters as well as those who just enjoy relaxing on the swim beach. Visitors enjoy hiking, picnicking, guided horseback trail rides and Western-themed activities as well as wildlife watching, golf and disc-golf, fishing and camping. Walnut Creek State Park:   (15.00 trail miles)   (Prue, Oklahoma) - View on Google Maps. Located on Lake Keystone, Walnut Creek State Park offers fishing, boating, water skiing and more. Visitors have access to swim beaches, lighted and unlighted boat ramps, a softball field, group picnic shelter and playground areas. The park has 73 full and semi-modern RV hookups, tent sites and comfort stations with showers and picnic areas. Hikers, mountain bikers and equestrian enthusiasts will enjoy the 15-mile Sand Plum Trail that features flat to rolling terrain with many vistas of the lake. Northwest Oklahoma



Foss State Park:   (Foss, Oklahoma) - View on Google Maps. Foss State Park is located in western Oklahoma on Foss Lake. Recreational activities include hiking, biking, horseback riding (no rentals), fishing, boating, swimming and camping. Facilities include 110 RV campsites, 42 tent sites, an equestrian camp, picnic areas, group picnic shelters, comfort stations with showers, lighted boat ramps, boat storage, boat and jet ski rentals, playgrounds, swimming beach and marina. Great Salt Plains State Park:   (Jet, Oklahoma) - View on Google Maps. The Great Salt Plains Lake is located at the park and covers 8,690 surface acres with 41 miles of shoreline and is a shallow, salty lake with fishing opportunities for catfish, saugeye, sandbass and hybrid striper. Personal watercraft are not recommended. The park has RV and tent sites, comfort stations with showers, cabins, picnic sites, group shelters, swimming beach, playgrounds, boat ramps, fishing dock and equestrian trails. Horse rental is not available. The Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge sits adjacent to the park and offers great bird watching and fall foliage viewing opportunities. Roman Nose State Park:   (Watonga, Oklahoma) - View on Google Maps. Once a winter campground of the Cheyenne tribe, this area now is a scenic retreat set on a canyon bluff that over-looks ancient mesas. Towering cedar, buffalo grass and wild blue sage add to the beauty of this legendary setting, and to the enjoyment of the many recreational activities. Set amidst a beautiful canyon, recreation activities at this state park include an 18 hole golf course, swimming pools, tennis courts, volleyball court, hiking trails, two lakes, trout fishing in season, miniature golf, canoeing, paddle boats, horse stables and hayrides.
